Tourist activities

Öland is an elongated landscape where the influence has taken place from the towns straight across the Kalmar Strait; from Oskarshamn and Västervik in the north, to Kristianopel in the south. Thus, influences have come from both the regions of Småland and Blekinge. Below you will find attractions outside Kalmar from the coast to Småland's deep forests.

Astrid Lindgren's world

About 14 kilometers northwest of Kalmar in Vimmerby you will find the theme park Astrid Lindgren's World. Here, the environments consist of what Astrid Lindgren depicted in her stories about Pippi Longstocking, Emil, Ronja and the other children. Here you can find Villa Villekulla, the farm Katthult, Mattisskogen and many other places that have become famous through her books. A visit to Astrid Lindgren's World is like traveling through her stories, but for real.

Here you can find famous glassworks such as Kosta, Orrefors, and Boda, as well as the opportunity to see glassblowers at work. In the Kingdom of Crystal , you can also visit the Kosta Boda Art Hotel, where art and design are part of the hotel's decor, and the Kosta Outlet to buy high-quality glass products.
